Back Bay Restoration Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Our mission is to preserve, protect, and improve Back Bay and its watershed through education, stewardship, and outreach.

What We Do

Back Bay Restoration Foundation's mission is to preserve, protect, and improve Back Bay and its watershed through education, stewardship, and outreach.

 

 

Some ways we support our mission:

 

  • Water Quality Monitoring with Virginia DEQ (volunteers needed)
  • Watershed Advocacy and Stewardship
  • Political Activism: co-plantiffs in civil action suit opposing the construction of a marina on the north end of Back Bay NWR 
  • Pollution Prevention Programs (including Virginia Beach's Adopt-A-Street (volunteers needed))
  • Environmental Education (volunteers needed)
  • Build, install, and monitor wood duck boxes in False Cape State Park and the surrounding watershed
  • Blue Goose Express Tram Tours from Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge to False Cape State Park 
  • Back Bay Forum: Symposium on current science and data on Back Bay ecosystem
  • Annual fundraising events: Music Blast, Flyway Feast
