Contest Rules:
To be considered eligible, the photograph must depict Back Bay, its watershed, and associated flora and fauna. Photographs that are not applicable to this geographic area will not be considered. Any photograph that indicates harassment of wildlife or deemed to endanger the environment, wildlife, or any person will be disqualified. Each photographer is allowed to submit no more than 5 photographs. Children under age 18 must have parental permission to participate and must be able to produce this permission upon request.
All photographs must be digital and have a high quality resolution (3 megapixels or better). Photographs must be in JPG or JPEG format. Photographs are not to be digitally altered beyond standard optimizations such as cropping, dust removal, and reasonable adjustments to exposure, brightness, and color.
All photographs must be accompanied by a caption that includes the name of the photographer(s), location of the photograph, and adequately describe any subjects in the photograph (name(s), species description, etc.). The entrant is responsible for obtaining any necessary third-party releases or copyrights of such subjects if appropriate. If selected as a winning entry, the entrant must be able to provide such releases to BBRF upon request. The caption should also include biographical information about the photographer, including name, city and state of residence, and contact information (email and/or phone number, whichever is preferred method of contact).
Entrants retain ownership over their photographs, but by entering the contest give BBRF the permission to use these photographs for our promotional activities including, but not limited to, our website, educational and marketing publications, and fundraising material.
BBRF’s Executive Director, Board of Directors, and any other judges appointed by the aforementioned individuals, will evaluate all submissions based on originality, composition, overall impact, and most striking representation of Back Bay and its watershed. During judging, photographs will remain anonymous (i.e. photographer’s name will not visible on the photograph) so that selection remains unbiased. Employees of BBRF are not eligible for the competition. All decisions made by the judges are final.
